Day 1

Subject: [firstname]: Thanks for signing up!

Dear [firstname],

Thanks for signing up to this short e-course on content marketing. Over the coming days I'm going to be sending you a LOT of information; be sure to check your inbox every day and mark my messages as “important”. You might also want to set some time aside each day to read my messages and act on the information they contain.

Specifically, I'm going to be telling you:

How to define your content marketing target audience and your objective – get this wrong and all your efforts will come to nothing.
The different types of content marketing – there's probably more than you think.
How to repurpose your content so you can spread your message far and wide with minimal effort.
Where to post your content so it gets the maximum attention.
And a whole lot more besides!

Of course if you want to get a head start on all this, I've put together a no-holes-barred content marketing blueprint that will enable you to get your content marketing campaign up and running in 30 days or less. You can find out all about it here: [link to sales page]

Before we go any further, though, I want to clear up some confusion as to exactly what content marketing is.

Wikipedia defines content marketing as:

“A form of marketing focused on creating, publishing, and distributing content for a targeted audience online.

“Unlike other forms of online marketing, content marketing relies on anticipating and meeting an existing customer need for information, as opposed to creating demand for a new need.”

You can read the full definition here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Content_marketing

Put simply, it means you provide useful information to your prospects for free WITHOUT trying to sell them anything. This is a completely different approach than (say) direct marketing or PPC, but as you'll discover, it can be way more effective.

Sincerely,

[Your Name]

PS. Tomorrow I'll clear up some confusion regarding two important aspects of a content marketing plan that so many people get wrong. Be sure to check your inbox then.
